It’s a challenge to review this book without giving away too much, so by necessity I am going to be a bit vague.Most books that attempt to connect past and present events take a sequential approach, simply switching back and forth between the two. Sime has invented a device that allows him to integrate past and present in a seamless way. The result is a story that really engages and surprises.
The result is a great story, but it’s also built of many layers that you can explore if you wish. The story throws up some of the big philosophical questions: ‘Is it really desirable to life a long way beyond our natural life span?’, ‘What is the purpose of life after all?’, ‘What is love?’ and so on.
Sime has delivered a book that offers great entertainment as well as a springboard for exploring some serious questions. He is a consummate story teller and I look forward to his next book.

An outstanding book that manages to balance being laugh out loud funny, occasionally horrifying and profound all at the same time.
It moves from a wistful look back at a somewhat misspent youth to altogether deeper and darker territory before ending on a note of real optimism about love and its redemptive power.

A fine first up effort by this author, an entertaining read, full of page turning chuckles. Any book that includes pineapple in macaroni cheese is worth a look....

Absolutely loved this book. It is really well written and is one of those books that you can't put down until you've found out where it's heading. It's certainly not one of those formulaic cheapy novels - more of a literary gem.
